The Archean expansion also known as the version 0.2 of the game, was where the devs decided that they would cool down the earth so that the conditions wouldn't be so harsh and that way players could actually play. This is the first registered spike in the playerbase but most of the 'players' were still NPCs. The Archean Expansion's atmosphere contained heavily of methane, ammonia, hydrogen and carbon monoxide which means that you couldn't get out of the sea. There were 4 sub updates, the Eoarchean, Paleoarchean, Mesoarchean and the Neoarchean.
